Imitrex Uses
Imitrex is used to treat acute migraine headache with or without aura
(flashing lights, wavy lines, dark spots) in adults. It should not be used to
prevent migraines or cluster headaches.

How Imitrex Works
Imitrex targets the blood vessels and the nerves which cause the migraine headaches.
How to Take Imitrex
When you have migraine symptoms take one dose of Imitrex. In some cases two doses, but not more than 200 mg a day, can be taken only if instructed by your personal healthcare practitioner.
Possible Imitrex Side Effects
Some side effects are associated with Imitrex, but they are usually minor.
Tell your doctor if you have any symptoms of an allergic reaction (hives;
rash; difficulty breathing; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue);
serious heart problems; chest pain, pressure, heaviness, or tightness. Common
side effects are abnormal skin sensations or warm/cold sensations. Rare side
effects can include chest, jaw, or neck tightness, pressure, or pain; pain;
drowsiness/sleepiness; feeling of a whirling motion; tiredness.
Warnings/Precautions about Imitrex
If you have any of the following conditions you should not take Imitrex: allergy to Imitrex, Raynaud syndrome, strokes in the past, certain types of heart disease,
transient ischemic attacks, uncontrolled blood pressure, peripheral vascular disease. You should consult your personal doctor before taking this medicine if
you smoke, have high colesterol or high blood pressure, diabetes.
Imitrex Overdose
In case of overdose you must get immediate medical care.
Imitrex Drug Interactions
Before taking this medicine inform your personal doctor if you take any headache medication, ergotamine or MAO inhibitors
such as linezolid, furazolidone, tranylcypromine, phenelzine, selegiline.
Missed Imitrex Dose
Imitrex is not to be taken routinely. Only take this medicine when a migraine attack occurs.
Imitrex Storage
Keep this medicine in its container, at normal temperature away from moisture and heat. Keep it out of the reach of children.
Pregnancy/Nursing and Imitrex
If you are pregnant please consult your personal doctor before taking Imitrex.
